The A’s

They are just so….blah.  Losing 1-0 is the worst.  The pitchers do good, but the bats don’t show up.   It’s not looking to great, right now, but I think we can still get a 90-95 win season.  I think they will pick up near to the end of July.

The A’s are quietly winning.  They won yet again, thier 8th win in a row.

I hope no one notices.  Last nights win over the Angels was nice.  Although I haven’t seen much about them from the national media standpoint…I’m glad, because I think the less attention they get from the media the better they will play.

Nice…looks like another good baseball movie…although this is more about civil rights, but baseball has a role…and who doesn’t love baseball.

A’s

Right now it is 1-1 against the Mariners.

I don’t like the playing in Japan stuff.   Yeah sure, it is good for the game and America, but I think it is dumb. 

I mean why do that, I mean they won’t come play us in America. 

Just simple politics in a sport that has to much of it. 

Well anyway, the real season is soon to be starting.  I hopeful for a good season and a playoff birth.

I wonder

What Tommy Lasorda thinks of Magic Johnson buying the Dodgers.  I mean afterall he is the dodgers.

Well, I guess any new ownership they have is better then what they were dealing with before.

I think ownership does matter a lot in sports.  I think of when Eddie D was in charge in SF, and how the team and the city seemed like Camelot.  When he left, it became more like Crapalot.

Even though Magic is a Laker, I wish him well.

A’s Spring = Nice

I love the spring.  I love baseball.

So it would stand that the A’s having a good spring, makes it all the much better.

I’m just worried that the team won’t be able to win 6 of 10 games consistantly as the season rolls along. (I know they are better then that right now…but…60 percent is usually a playoff team).

The division is too hard, and I wonder if the young kids can play through the long…long…long…long season.

I’m hopefull, but I have to admit…every now and then a doubt slips in.

But at least its a new season, where anything can happen.

Manny to the A’s

Not so sure I like this.

but he is soooooo cheap. I guess it couldn’t hurt to try to get some big name on the team. It might help them draw fans.

The real question is, how long will he last if he isn’t on drugs…and how long will it take for him to get caught. I have to admit that if he does have a good year, I’ll suspect him of using some kind of performance enhancer.

In the end I do believe that this will not work out like Billy hopes it will.

Heat

They seem to be the best in the east right now. I mean they just handled the knicks. Lin had only 8 points.

I guess I can’t say how much this makes me mad. Well I suppose the playoffs are a few months away, and in sports anything can happen…I mean look, the NYG midway through the NFL season were just junk, and they got good at the perfect time.

So my hope is the the bulls can do the same kind of thing. Even though, the Bulls they aren’t garbage, they are damn good…I just mean, I want them to surge big time into the playoffs.

Hopefully Rose can stay healthy through a good run up to and throughout the playoffs.

The A’s

So what’s the over under on how many wins they get this year?

I’m going with like 64.  It might be a long year.

I think Moneyball, has run its course and its time for the owners to penny up some cash and pay for some freakin’ talent.

Also about moneyball.  Everyone in that movie and in everywhere else in baseball is wrong.  To be a winner, in baseball, you need one simple thing.

Good pitching.  Even the A’s at the turn of the century, had pitching.  Hudson, Mulder and Zito.  The big three, they had a good bullpen, and they could mange on defense.  I will never believe that buying runs in the same sense that they talked about in the movie is what made the A’s good back then.  I will always say, and believe that it takes pitching and defense to win.
